NON-VENEERED POINTS
|
| Six hi/lo ebony points with white and yellow veneers are spliced into an ebony front. The ebony butt has six reversed, double-veneered points. The A, B, C, D, and E rings of ebony and lemonwood block work are capped with white phenolic rings. The joint collars are phenolic and the joint sleeve is ivory. The unusual handle is a piece of spalted Tamarind wood that came from a tree felled by a hurricane in the Florida Keys several years ago. Fungi attacked the still green wood before it could be | kiln-dried.
The dark lines and markings in this wood are the result of the fungal attack. Once dried, the fungus is killed and the wood is stabilized. Tamarind
wood is too lightweight to use as a handle, so a 7/8" hole was bored through the piece and a
Bocote dowel was glued in. This resulted in a cue that has the proper balance, weight, and playability. Overall this is a very striking looking cue. Two shafts with ivory ferrules are
included. Cue #00020 |
